Join our immersive 2-hour workshop. Engage with a diverse community of aspiring entrepreneurs as we explore key steps to create businesses that thrive economically and positively impact the environment. From defining sustainability to legal considerations, funding options, and impactful branding, embark on a journey towards a more sustainable and prosperous future.

Building a Sustainable Start Up will be delivered by Supriya Foster, Sustainability Officer and Carbon Literacy Facilitator for South West College. Supriya will be joined by industry experts including Dr Barry McCarron, Liam McNally and Craig Stewart.

About the Speakers

Supriya Foster is the Sustainability Officer and Carbon Facilitator at South West College. With a Master’s in Environmental Management and a Bachelor’s in Natural Science, she blends academic expertise with a decade’s experience in Sustainability. Her achievements include implementing carbon reduction systems, fostering partnerships, and advancing sustainability in educational sector. Known for driving transformative biodiversity projects, she’s a catalyst for positive change, engaging stakeholders in sustainable development.

Dr Barry McCarron is the Head of Business and Development for South West College. A key part of this role includes the reasonability for the award winning certified Passive House CREST (Centre for Renewable Energy and Sustainable Technologies) Pavilion at South West College in Northern Ireland. He is also the current Chairperson of the Passive house association of Ireland (PHAI). Barry completed a PhD in Queen’s University Belfast investigating the passive house building standards influence on indoor radon concentrations. He has more than fifteen years’ experience in the construction industry specialising in sustainable construction and renewable energy. Barry is a key part of the team at South West College working towards developing the College into a Regional Centre of Excellence with the development of the Passive House Premium Erne Campus. Barry was appointed as an Expert Advisor to Ministerial Advisory Group for Architecture and the Built Environment (MAG) in June 2019.

Liam McNally is the Resoure Matching Practitioner at International Synergies. Liam is responsible for engaging new and existing members in the practical and innovative application of Industrial Symbiosis within their business settings to achieve positive economic benefit, environmental compliance and positive social responsibility when utilising resources.

Craig Stewart is the Sustainable Business Advisor at International Synergies. Craig brings with him 19 years of experience in the Industrial Sector across NI.

With experience of lowering carbon emissions in industry, he is results and numbers driven, while embracing the wider sustainable business agenda to ensure economic sustainability.

This Go Succeed workshop is open to establishing start-ups in the Fermanagh and Omagh District Council area and neighbouring Council areas and facilitated by Enterprise NI.

Our chosen venue is fully accessible, ensuring that everyone can join us for an inclusive workshop experience.
